Clippers' Kawhi Leonard says he has 'no knowledge' of uncle asking for improper benefits

LOS ANGELES – Clippers star Kawhi Leonard said he has

“no knowledge” of the accuracy of a recent Athletic report that said his uncle, Dennis Robinson, made various requests during free-agent pitch meetings last summer that would have been considered illegal under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

Those reported requests included having part ownership of a team, a private plane, a house and a guaranteed amount of endorsement money.

“I didn’t read it. I don’t know how reliable it is," Leonard said following practice on Tuesday. “I have no knowledge of it. People make up stories every day.”

Nonetheless, Clippers coach Doc Rivers called the details a “pretty empty story” because the NBA’s formal investigation did not find the franchise committed any wrongdoing. The Clippers have said Leonard only requested for them to somehow acquire Paul George from Oklahoma City. Shortly after, the Clippers traded Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, Danilo Gallinari and five draft picks to the Thunder for George.
